“Two Paws Up!” – See what keeps those tails a waggin’!
Tully is our 8 year old black lab and Toby is our 3 year old yellow lab. While both dogs are mostly well behaved, they were a nightmare on the leash. Tully acted like Cujo when we saw another dog and Toby quickly learned this bad behavior. Therefore we never walked them! After only a few sessions with Lisa, we were walking our dogs all summer. With the help of positive reinforcement and lots of practical advice, we are no longer afraid to walk them on a leash. We even had two successful visits to the Vet without barking at other dogs! Tully and Toby love Lisa! She is easy to work with and we would highly recommend her.
Lisa took time to really understand our frustrations, goals and commitment to helping these dogs. She took her time observing us, the dogs and our interaction as a family. She was encouraging and made us feel that there was a light at the end of the tunnel, that we were doing some things correctly, and most importantly, that she would help us get where we needed to be.
We have been Labrador Retriever owners for 34 years and now own our 4th dog, a 4-month-old black lab puppy. It has been a pleasure to work with Lisa, of Tails of Success Training, for many refresher items. She is a passionate and knowledgeable dog trainer and owner with a keen sense of appropriate successful training methods for us and our puppy.
Lisa working individually with the pup, and also us, his owners, has been so helpful. She has provided us with so many successful tips for basic training and beginning behavior issues. He will make for a great adult dog, and in turn, we are a happy family.
Tails of Success Dog Training has provided us with the tools to move forward with our pup. It is amazing how much you forget after many years with an adult dog and Lisa’s refreshers have been invaluable. Things have changed over the years and now we are up on all the newest training methods. It is hard to belive we are dealing with a baby again!! Lisa conveyed confidence and joy in helping us to manage and train our new puppy. Cheers to you Lisa!!!!
For 13 years we had a beloved English Springer named Kelly. She was our constant companion. When she passed away, it took us a year to get a second English Springer, Piper. Piper is a loving, energetic and intelligent puppy. She is very strong and athletic. I had become very concerned as she jumped at passing cars, bikes, children. I worried for both Piper and the passing person. Lisa worked one on one with Piper for a few months. She employed techniques to get Piper to pay attention to her and not the distraction. Walking Piper now is a pleasure and not the stressful situation it once was. I would encourage anyone to use Lisa and Tails for Success. She makes it possible to love your puppy even more.
Gordie joined our family at 8 weeks old and I was nervous and anxious to bring her into our home. But after my initial meeting with Lisa, I knew I had a true expert in my corner to help me through the challenges of new puppy ownership. Lisa helped me with everything, from identifying the items necessary to bring home a puppy, what to expect the first few days, ensuring our puppy was socialized in every possible situation, teaching basic training and safety commands to finally showing the fun tricks like paw and roll over. Lisa even helped work with my children to make sure they were involved in Gordie’s training success. I’m grateful for Lisa for helping us raise a happy and confident puppy.
As a trainer, Lisa is exceptional! Her knowledge of what techniques work best was spot on. She started training Edie when she was 4-5 months old. With reinforcement by me in between sessions, she has become a happy, well trained & attentive puppy. By the end of our sessions, she could sit, lie down, stay, wait, recall, go to her place AND rollover. I was extremely pleased and would recommend Lisa highly. As a person, she is fun, relaxed and I’m thrilled to call her a friend now.
I highly recommend Lisa Schroeder and Tails of Success Dog Training! Lisa worked with our two dogs, Katie and Nellie, for a few weeks this past winter. Our main issue was with Katie, a 6 year old Boxer-Norwegian Elkhound Mix, who had gradually become more and more reactive to other dogs when on the leash, to the point that she was sometimes difficult to control. But Nellie, a 7 year old Husky-Corgi mix, still had some of her own issues (like being a little too enthusiastic of a greeter at the front door!) that we sought Lisa’s advice on as well. I was most impressed with the time Lisa took to get to know not only our dogs, but our family’s specific needs as far as dog training. Her approach felt extremely personal and customized for us. As she got to know our dogs’ personalities and cues, Lisa shared her dog behavioral knowledge in great detail and that has been invaluable – I feel much more aware and able to react proactively to Katie and Nellie’s behaviors with Lisa’s insight. In her final session, Lisa took our family out with the dogs to demonstrate and practice the leash walking strategies that were working best for Katie, making sure that we all had it down. Throughout the process Lisa definitely made us feel like she was fully invested in Katie and Nellie’s success, and it gives us great confidence to know that we can continue to rely on her expertise anytime if needed in the future!
Bella is a 2½ year old lab mix. She is a wonderful, loving, cuddly 80 pound lap dog. Although she is great with children and strangers I was afraid she would knock someone down in her overly rambunctious excitement. I don’t like having to lock her up when we have guest. I needed a way to manage Bella.
I knew Bella was in need desperate need of a manners refresher course, so I asked Lisa for some help. Having previously gone through puppy training in a group setting, I am convinced that private training at home is so much better. I gave Lisa a list of things I wanted to work on with Bella and she was able to customize a training program to deal with those specific issues that were right for Bella and our family.
Lisa explained exactly what she was doing and why. Then she taught me to do the same. I’m not quite sure who got the better training, Bella or myself.
When I asked on Facebook if anyone knew of a dog trainer that came to the house, I was told to call Lisa because she is “the dog whisperer.” Well I made that call, and I couldn’t be any happier. Lisa truly speaks dog!
